For this segment of Normal Talk, the author of Dear Normal sits down to have one last conversation and to share one last story.
To be transparent, as I seemingly love to do on this platform, this was all for a school project (whoops). We were tasked with coming up with a blog style platform completely on our own and to track its progress and our marketing abilities throughout the semester. This being said, this blog will temporarily be my last while the semester comes to an end. In honor of this being the last blog, I am going to interview….myself? More like, I”m going to be sharing my career journey and what I hope to get out of my career in the years to come.
I have always been very entrepreneurial at heart and have always been marketing a new product to my classmates that I have come up with. I started several small business as a child and I loved coming up with new ideas. This trait has followed me throughout my youth and leading up to where I am today. So where did it all start?
Well, I attended Central Magnet School for both middle school and high school where I had no direct path and no idea what I wanted to do with my life. This was until my senior year when I took interest in the music industry. Following this passion I applied to one school and one school only: Belmont University. I was overjoyed when I got into my dream school and could not wait for the years to come. I spent the first three years of school there eager to get into the music industry. I was interested in any job within the industry and just wanted to be a part of the world itself. This interest stayed with my for a while until I eventually realized that it wasn’t for me. Struggling to find a new passion and being severely disappointed that my first three years at the school that I chose specifically for the music industry felt wasted, I felt lost for what I wanted to achieve in life.
This was until I remembered the entrepreneurial spark that I have had since I was little and I decided to try my hand at marketing. Several marketing classes later and I am now in this class, which has allowed me the opportunity to completely create and run my own platform. Let’s just say, I absolutely love it. I love that it gives me the platform to write and to express my thoughts. I love the route that I took with it being that I got to speak with incredibly cool people and learn so much about my community and the world around me. I love the creativity that marketing brings to me and I love that I am able to make something uniquely my own. That being said, I am so incredibly grateful for every single person that has supported me on this journey, even though it was a school project it has made an impact on my life that I could never leave behind.
I am so grateful for everyone that has subscribed, read the blogs, reached out to me about the blogs, and for just being there in general. It has really opened my eyes to how beautiful my community is and I really do want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With school continuing and graduation quickly approaching, the future of this blog remains unclear. I hope that some day in the future I will be able to find the time to come back to the blog and turn it into something great and bigger than myself. In the meantime, I may just use it as a platform to express my thoughts and use it as a way to continue writing. This being said, stay along for the ride, because hopefully there will be more in store for myself and for Dear Normal.
Again, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Goodbye for now,
Dear Normal.
